Words

If controversy brought you here as a first time reader. I say "Welcome. Peace Be With You." This is a platform for open dialogue about mental illness, a subject that creates immense discomfort for individuals and families. Upset is a better word. People react differently. Denial is popular. However, when it comes to health forms for college admissions and military service, there is usually a question thrown in asking if one has a first degree relative with a psychiatric disorder. They ask about cancer, too.Well you can lie or tell the truth. Who's going to check?

The subject matter here is from the perspective of a woman with a psychiatric disability. It's sourced from abundant springs of emotions that run deep and passionately. The framework is from personal experience, insights on the road to well-being and key life altering experiences. Many of them were so torturous and painful I could not imagine going on one more minute. I entrusted no one with my secret. I have no romantic notions of the journey from there to here. It has been long and arduous and it is not over.

I understand and accept that my words may not be everyone's 'cup of tea'. I may even inadvertently hurt or anger bystanders and supporters. Tea With Dee resonates with a devoted group of declared followers and email beta-testers. They call, comment or write with encouragement and praise. They have stories to share with a willing, compassionate me. Tea With Dee means having authentic, emotional dialogues where everyone grows in spiritual understanding. It is not judgmental. These are not gossip sessions. Not all teas are parties. Serious, real conversations and decisions are in the open. Tea time can be surprising.

Words provoke, they stir-up, they soothe, they commiserate, they heal, they empower and they hurt. There is no privacy in the 21st Century, to believe otherwise, is a comfortable illusion. Love Trumps Fear. Love Always Wins!
